SEE HOW IT WAS // Insights over the sixth edition of SHARE Skopje 2023 Forum
SHARE Skopje 2023 has been recognized as a progression of the scheduled autumn events. The 6th edition of the event took place at the prestigious Macedonian Philharmonic, and hosted over 130 professionals, experts and enthusiasts of architecture and technology.
The SHARE Skopje 2023 Forum was organized by SHARE Architects in partnership with the Association of Architects of Macedonia, and with the support of Everest (Partner), Zumtobel (Proud SHARE Community Partner), together with our reliable institutional partners Chamber of Certified Architects and Certified Engineers of Republic of Macedonia and University American College of Skopje (UACS).

The welcome remarks were honored by Martin Panovski, Chairman of SHARE Skopje Forum, Founder & Chief Architect at RADiUs architects doo, Skopje, His Excellency José Luis Lozano García / The Ambassador of Spain to the Republic of North Macedonia, Silviu-Emanuel Drăgoicea / Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of Romania in North Macedonia, Masar Dushi / President Architects’ Association in Kosovo and Misko Ralev / President of Association of Architecture in Macedonia.
METODI HADZI-ANDOV, General Manager of PARAMETAR, North Macedonia, lecture on “Adaptive reuse of abandoned buildings”
The focus of the presentation was on the references to the restoration and enhancement of the architectural integrity of old structures on a smaller scale, as well on the public awareness to initiate a change on a bigger and wider scope of public spaces.
PAKO RADOVANOVIC, CEO Rado Engineering, North Macedonia, lecture on “Living Easy”
The presentation approached both example of residential building projects, as well as example of the company’s portfolio over luxurious 5***** hotel build on the Croatian Coast.
MARKELLA MENIKOU, Founder Markella Menikou Architects, from Cyprus, lecture on “The instrumentality of space: Testing performance criteria in the suburban house typology”
Case studies on Concrete House@Paniotis, Courtyard House@Philothea , and Extension House@Nicosia which have delved into the design strategies tailored for the suburban home archetype, informed by an extensive list of performance standards.
DAVID GARCIA, Founder DAWOffice from Spain, lecture on “Design challenges in Africa”
Case studies on CEM Kamanar, Bajankusoor and Sustainable Diourbela with the highlights on the designs with a strong commitment to sustainability and holistic development. Altogether, with strategies for ensuring long-term positive impacts in communities by using earth-based and vernacular architectural principles.
Special Lecture: RENATO RIZZI, Founder Renato Rizzi Studio, Italy lecture on “The Name Beheaded”
Renato Rizzi approaches research, architecture and teaching as a whole, trying to reestablish the ontological and metaphysical thought as intimately linked to the understanding of the contemporary condition of Architecture. Professor Renato Rizzi taught at the LUAV University in Venice, developing a complex professional activity that constantly combines theory and practice.
BESIAN MEHMETI, Founder of BMA Studio, North Macedonia, lecture on “Living architecture from small to large scale”
Through a case study of six of our residential projects, starting with a small one-story house and ending with a vertical neighborhood, vision and ideas about living architecture on various scales will be demonstrated.
ARBER SHALA, Founder Arber Shala Architects, Kosovo, lecture on “How we shape Space! From Inspiration and Influence to final shape and materials”
Case studies on Linda Premium Residence “The Terraces”; Hotel Lakeside SPA & Conference through which crafting unique designs for urban and architectural identity topic has been approached, together with sustainable design approach and choice of materials; pure geometric shapes with white as the predominant colour.

NINA KARANGELESKA-TODOROVSKA, MSc Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, University American College Skopje presenting a lecture on
“Discovering Architecture”
The presentation has as a primary focus the significance of the interactive education-focused projects for kids as a tool for better city, where the role of architecture in shaping future generations plays a vital role in the physical environment in order to create a sense of identity and place
PATRICK MEIJERS, Co-Founder Orange Architects, The Netherlands, lecture on “Sustainability illustrated in Residential Urban Landscapes”
The presentation had as case studies the Jonas and Floating Garden projects, whichoffer solutions for sustainable and high-quality living in the densified cities of the future. People don’t just live in an apartment; they reside in a warm, landscaped building with shared amenities.
