From the Effect of Architecture to the Knowledge of Architecture: 20 Years of Yazgan Design
On the 20th anniversary of its establishment, Yazgan Design Architecture is organizing an exhibition that will present its theoretical and practical approaches to the discipline of architecture with selected projects, visuals, and models. “From the Effect of Architecture to the Knowledge of Architecture: 20 Years of Yazgan Design” exhibition will be held at Ankara CerModern between October 19 and November 2, and at Istanbul Tophane-i Amire Tek Kubbe Hall between November 9 and 23.
Yazgan Design celebrates its 20th anniversary in the practice of architecture with an exhibition that will first meet with the audience at Ankara CerModern and then at Istanbul Tophane-i Amire Tek Kubbe Hall. “From the Effect of Architecture to the Knowledge of Architecture: 20 Years of Yazgan Design” exhibition will present Yazgan Design Architecture‘s theoretical and practical approaches to the discipline of architecture through selected projects, visuals, and models.
In the past 20 years, Yazgan Design has become an international architectural office providing project services in 31 countries. A total of 100 projects of 9.000.000 sqm designed by Yazgan have been built. Yazgan Design continues its knowledge-based, nature-integrated designs and architectural researches with the “Flexible System Design” approach developed for projects.
Organized with the support of Alumen, Anıl Zemin, Ardıç Cam, Arlight, Grohe-Lixil, Heper, Jotun, Kalebodur, Kasso, Nurus, Şişecam and Vitra, “From the Effect of Architecture to the Knowledge of Architecture: 20 Years of Yazgan Design” exhibition will be held at Ankara CerModern between October 19 and November 2, and at Istanbul Tophane-i Amire Tek Kubbe Hall between November 9 and 23.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The exhibition “From the Effect of Architecture to the Knowledge of Architecture: 20 Years of Yazgan Design” consists of the following elements:
- 12×2,5m. length 1:5 system section on glass
Yazgan has designed inner gardens in many projects of different typologies recently. This approach, “integrating nature into architecture” as one of our design principles, has been shownin the exhibiton with a detailed section drawing, 12m long and 2,5m height, in 1:5 scale, emphasizing Yazgan’s knowledge-based approach. In this system drawing, which created with the idea of “inner gardens instead of walls”, it will be shown how trees can separate spaces in a Project. The transparent nature of Glass, which is the tool of this, as well as the technical and theoretical knowledge of its other properties, can be transformed into a knowledge-based installation.
- Models
43 models produced by Yazgan in its own office will be exhibited.
- Project Boards
42 selected projects of Yazgan will be exhibited as panel boards.
- Book – Brochure
“Flexible System Design” is Yazgan’s first book and it will be launced in parallel with the exhibiton.
- Smart Project
‘Smart Project’, developed by Yazgan, is a pioneering research, production area and information platform that aims to integrate architectural project production with the information age we live in, and will mediate in synthesizing this information with the project. It is based on participatory and collaborative working culture. It aims to develop project production methods locally and universally, and to produce knowledge in all areas of the architectural project with a knowledge-based architecture. In this direction, architectural building elements have been researched and listed with in a systematic way.
- Digital screen and World map
A screen on which drawings, sketches, diagrams, videos, and photographs of Yazgan’s projects and buildings will be displayed with map showing the countries and cities where Yazgan has made projects in the world will be in this section.

Founded in 2003 by Kerem Yazgan and Begüm Yazgan, both PhD. Architects, Yazgan Design Architecture Inc. is an architectural, interior, landscape and graphic design firm based in Ankara, Turkey.
