Great career honored within SHARE Albania 2023: Maksim Mitrojorgji received SHARE OPERA OMNIA AWARD

Maksim Mitrojorgji was honored with the SHARE OPERA OMNIA AWARD for his lifelong commitment to architecture and urban planning, his unwavering pursuit of architectural research, and his remarkable accomplishments in advancing and evolving architecture in Albania.

 

The award ceremony took place on 7th March, during the International Architecture and Technology Innovation Forum – SHARE Albania 2023, an event organized by SHARE Architects, the largest network dedicated to architecture and construction professionals in Central and South Eastern Europe,  in partnership with the Albanian Architects’ Associaton and the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, Polytechnic University of Tirana, with the support of the Municipality of Tirana.

The award was handed out by The Albanian Minister of Culture, Elva Margariti, the Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, in the presence of Masar Dushi, President of the Architects Association of Kosovo, Armand Vokshi, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, Matilda Pando, President of Albanian Association of Architects (AAA), Florin Mindirigiu, Fondator SHARE Architects, Romania.

 

 

Biography

Maksim Mitrojorgji graduated as an architect from the University of Tirana in 1971. He started working as an urban planner at the State Institute of Design In Tirana and later transferred as an engineer in the construction of Fierza hydropower. After that, he returns as Head of the Department of design of social-cultural buildings at the Institute of Design in Tirana. He transferred to Lezha where he works as an implementation engineer in the State construction company and later in the city office of design. After 1990, he created his design studio until 2013. He held the position of General Director of the Albanian Development Fund for 8 years until 2005.

Currently retired, he continues his design work as an architect and is committed to teaching at several architectural universities in the disciplines of Design Theory, Architectural Theory, Composition, and Architectural Design. In these disciplines, he has given his professional contribution to several academic publications.

He has always been passionate about Albanian vernacular architecture and has published several books on the study and analysis of the Albanian vernacular dwelling and the critics of architectural design. This lifework is currently accompanied and enriched with publications of watercolor sketches of vernacular architecture typologies and landscapes of Albanian cities in their past. These drawings are presented in the first 2 series of albums “Popular Architecture in watercolor 1 & 2” and is an ongoing work with more publications to come.

The SHARE OPERA OMNIA AWARD is a prestigious award given by the SHARE Architects Society for outstanding achievements in the fields of architecture, as well as for the role played in the development of significant architectural projects throughout the career. Leaders of architecture from 10 countries reunited in Tirana

SHARE Architects, in partnership with the Albanian Architects’ Associaton and the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, Polytechnic University of Tirana, with the support of the Municipality of Tirana organized, on 7th of March 2023, the International Architecture and Technology Innovation Forum – SHARE Albania 2023 with the theme “Living and Working Architecture”. The event took place at  The National Theatre of Opera and Ballet.  The event gathered internationally recognized personalities of architecture and leaders of the profession from  Albania, Kosovo, Austria, China, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Montenegro, Slovenia, Turkey, and the UK.

The SHARE Albania 2023 Forum was organized by SHARE Architects, one of the most active events network in the region,  in partnership with the Albanian Architects’ Associaton and the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism, the Polytechnic University of Tirana, with the support of the Municipality of Tirana.
