The renowned French architect Manuelle Gautrand is coming to Tirana for SHARE Albania 2025
We are thrilled to announce the participation of Manuelle Gautrand, an influential figure in French and international architecture, as a speaker at SHARE Albania 2025 – International Architecture Forum, which will take place in Tirana on 21 February.
Under the title ”An architectural project is more than a facade project,” Manuelle Gautrand will present in detail his practice projects: Marievik, a mixed-used project in Stockholm, Sweden, and The PHIVE Library & Community Center in Parramatta, Australia. This latest project won the 2024 Chicago Athenaeum International Prize.
Born in Marseille, Manuelle Gautrand is a graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Montpellier. She founded her Paris-based practice, MANUELLE GAUTRAND ARCHITECTURE, in 1991. She specializes in diverse projects, ranging from cultural venues and offices to housing and commercial spaces, both in France and internationally.
A winner of the European Prize for Architecture in 2017 (she was the first woman and the first French architect to receive this prestigious honor), she has completed several notable buildings in Paris, including Citroën’s c42 showroom on the Champs-Élysées and the ava Tower at La Défense.
Her design philosophy centers on “re-enchanting the city” through creativity, innovation, and bold solutions that evoke emotion and surprise: ”Far away from standards and international architecture, we are always aiming to find the DNA of a city and its site, defining a sense of place with a very contextual approach, and with projects that bring beauty and poetry to their place.”
Gautrand has earned numerous distinctions, including the title of “Commandeur” of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2023 and “Chevalier” of the Légion d’Honneur in 2010.
An influential figure in French architecture, she served as President of the Académie d’Architecture and has contributed to academia through teaching roles at prestigious institutions like TU Vienna, Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, and the University of Florida.
In 2008 and 2009, documentary films on her work (‘L’Art & la Manière’ and ‘Chic’) were screened on the Franco-German television channel ARTE.
