Biography
ABOUT
Thierry Damez-Fontaine, of both French and American nationalities, is a DPLG architect and a certified urban planner from Sciences Po. He has been a senior partner since November 2023.
For over 20 years, he has worked alongside Christian de Portzamparc, overseeing major architectural projects with significant urban stakes and/or urban planning projects. He also contributes to the theoretical work of Christian de Portzamparc by actively participating in the writing of his books and serving as his correspondent within the Atelier International du Grand Paris.
Among the most emblematic projects he has worked on are One 57 in New York, the land extension at sea for the Principality of Monaco, the ZAC of the scientific peninsula in Grenoble, the award-winning “sponge city” competition in Shanghai, and the expansion of the Palais des Congrès at Porte Maillot in Paris.
Deeply engaged with urban and construction transition issues, he is involved in both the “sustainable lab” and the “urban lab.” In this context, he works on health-friendly urban planning, the integration of built and natural environments, and the decarbonization of construction. Having built a load-bearing rammed earth building as part of his work outside the agency, he is now leading several innovative environmental projects, including a collective housing building in load-bearing rammed earth in Grenoble.
