Biography

ABOUT

Iulia Stanciu founded STARH office, as partner since 1996, and is professor at the University of Architecture and Urbanism Ion Mincu of Bucharest since 1992. She is the President of the National Commission for the Granting of the Right of Signature of the Order of Architects in Romania. Several of the office’s works of architecture, restoration and interior design were awarded and nominated at the National Architecture Biennale, Annual Bucharest Architecture, selected and shortlisted at the Mies van der Rohe Awards. They were published in “Phaidon Altas of Contemporary World Architecture” and in several no. of “A10 Magasine for European Architecture”, Rotterdam, Zeppelin, Arhitext, Igloo.

STARH won several international competition, among which the Headquaters of the OAR_Bucharest 2014, National History Museum – Buch. 2016, Cluj City Council 2019, Brașov Central Square – 2022, Park DN3C Constanța – 2022. They show the office’s ongoing reflexivity about the city and its heritage.

SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFICE

STARH, office for architecture, was founded in 1996 by the architects Iulia and Florian Stanciu. They both teach project design as Pdh. Professors in the University of Architecture and Urbanism “Ion Mincu” Bucharest. STARH projects include a various range of works of arhchitecture design, restoration and interior, published and awarded in Romania and also international. There’s a constant preocupation and reflexivity on the city and it’s heritage in their works.
