Biography
ABOUT
Bekir Ademi graduated from Faculty of Architecture at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje in 1999. After primary and secondary education in North Macedonia and Croatia where, during his education, he enthusiastically pursued fine arts and thus organized small exhibitions and finally decided to study Architecture.
This turning point and decision occurred shortly before starting his studies in architecture, which significantly influenced the further formation of his design style and work.
In order to maintain the active pace of action in art and then in architecture, simultaneously with his studies, he actively participated in design practice in order to be aware of what in reality means technical drawing and how the differences between ideas on paper and physical experience can actually be minimized, so that in 2008 he established his own practice BINA [bureau of inventive architecture] and won his first competition.
Persistent loyalty to the main values of the field of Architecture as a result of the “contemporary mindset” from the first day of professional work helped at developing and managing simple-complex building concepts and processes in the future.
From the majority of projects and competitions with his bureau and collaborators, as an author, architect Bekir had the honor of representing his country in the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice Biennale in response to the theme, “How Will We Live Together” selected by curator Hashim Sarkis, thus, with his expression caused attention during the exhibition and imposed interest in the architectural critics community.

PROJECTS TO BE PRESENTED DURING THE EVENT
Project #1: Multilayer building
Start year: 02.02.2023
Monumental in its form, human-sized in its appearance, this building represents a landmark that shapes the identity of the new residential neighborhood that is emerging in the space of the former industrial zone “SILIKA”. As the first building that marks the entrance to the neighborhood, it has the role of a pivot that gives a new dimension to the space. The object generates a public space around itself accompanied by greenery, benches and urban equipment, intended for the socialization of citizens. Starting from the given massive spatial volume, the concept uses the sloping southern side and decides to follow it through the rhythmic withdrawal of the building modules. This gesture utilizes the existing situation by creating a modular segmentation (pixelation) that emphasizes the human-sizedness of residential units regardless of the massive body of the building. The sides, as spatial units with correct proportions, move and slide along the surface of the facade through the different floors, creating a single homogeneous structure. The design of the dynamic facade maintains the monumentality of the whole through a regular rhythm and alternating between retracted balconies and protruding rooms. The segments with unified materiality continue to flow along the side facades in the form of brisoleils, which at the same time contribute to improving the energy efficiency of the entire building. Housing as a primary purpose is accompanied by compatible purposes, an active ground floor with an enriched program has been formed that contributes to the quality of life in the building and in the entire city district. 68 apartments of various types are distributed over 6 floors, while the two underground levels are intended for parking. The apartments are rationally designed with a pronounced division into functional zones, well-lit and flexible to meet the living needs of the modern family and future generations who will use the building for decades to come.
Project #2: Sequence Apartment
Start year: 03.10.2023
“Sequence apartment” is an integral part of a modernist residential building from the 1950s located in the center of Skopje. The building is volumetrically imperceptible, morphologically dynamic, while in its constituent material features it represents a reproducible source of inspiration when it comes to developing a new concept and life in it. The fact that structural configuration of the residential unit and the building as a whole represent a sensitive topic considering its age, especially when it comes to renovation and programmatic distribution of the interior spaces, through the careful use of microstructural techniques and methods, all interventions that would mean adaptation and which would affect the long-term functioning and breathing of the existing structure are avoided. In this way, favorable conditions were created for essential communication with the fundamental characteristics of the apartment and its constituent elements such as the walls, columns, beams, floors, ceiling, terrace, etc., where only simple touches were required to bring further about reminiscence of beautiful memories, all of this in contemporary manners.
Project #3: Pikasa Analytics offices
