SHARE Albania 2025: International Forum on Sustainable Architecture

SHARE Architects is delighted to announce the 7th edition of the SHARE International Architecture Forum, set to take place on February 21, 2025, at the Pyramid of Tirana, in the heart of Albania’s vibrant capital.

Exploring Key Architectural Themes

The 2025 edition will focus on essential topics, including Façade Design and aesthetics, Good Living and Working Architecture, and Large-Scale Development Projects. The event promises to spark fresh ideas and inspire practical solutions to today’s architectural challenges with an increasing emphasis on sustainability in new architectural projects.

Tirana’s Revitalization

Over the past decade, Albanian architecture has evolved into a dynamic field, marked by innovation, sustainability, and a strong connection to cultural heritage. As Tirana continues to grow, the integration of contemporary design with historical context will be essential in shaping the future of architecture in Albania, making it a fascinating subject for both local and international audiences.

The SHARE Albania 2025 event will take place in a notable example of architectural transformation: the Pyramid of Tirana. Originally built as a museum dedicated to the communist dictator Enver Hoxha, this brutalist structure has been dramatically transformed by MVRDV. By repurposing the existing concrete framework, the Pyramid has been reimagined as an open sculpture within a newly designed urban park.

This transformation exemplifies how architecture can be adapted to meet the demands of a new era while preserving its layered history. It also highlights the potential of historic brutalist buildings for sustainable reuse and revitalization.

The interest from renowned international architects in Albanian projects signals a growing recognition of the country’s potential as an architectural hub.

This year’s forum features the participation of several prominent speakers, such as:
