PROJECTS TO BE PRESENTED DURING THE EVENT

Project #1: Conceptual Design Central Building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton

Start year: 26.11.2024

TEAM: Studio Mrav | Sinteza | Asmir Šabić Zejd Kobilica, Jasmin Sirčo, Ana Sužnjević, Melika Konjičanin, Ilma Kobilica Balance The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) of Sarajevo Canton can metaphorically be seen as a key point of support that maintains balance in society. Without such a foundation, the social system would constantly face the risk of collapse. MUP is not just a guardian of law and order—it is a dynamic force that directs the flows of life within the community, the streets, neighborhoods, and the city. Through its work, MUP ensures a stable and secure environment, making society resilient to various challenges and threats. This project is built upon the metaphor of MUP as a stabilizing force of social order. In its architectural conception, the MUP building is envisioned as a vertical tower, divided into four volumetric units. These units, offset and rotated relative to each other, create a dynamic yet harmonious composition—each unit is unique, yet together they form a stable structure. Just as MUP maintains balance in society, the tower establishes an architectural equilibrium with its surroundings, responding to the heights and forms of existing structures. The tower’s transparent façade symbolizes the openness of MUP toward the community, progress, and social development. The transparency conveys a message of accessibility and a willingness to communicate with citizens, fostering collaboration and mutual trust. The transparent and modern elements of the exterior plaza symbolize openness to the public, while strategically designed security features emphasize protection and stability. The building is designed to reflect efficiency, technology, and public trust. Through a thoughtful and flexible spatial organization, both in its exterior and interior, the entire structure and its surroundings exude harmony, order, seriousness, and monumental character. The modular design logic allows adaptability to spatial needs, ensuring maximum functionality through highly optimized space utilization. The rotation and displacement of volumes create open spaces envisioned as gathering and interaction zones for employees. These areas, including terraces and open-air cafés, serve as places for collaboration, relaxation, socialization, and informal gatherings. Each functional unit is designed to meet the needs of personnel, creating a supportive and efficient work environment. The balance point that MUP represents is not static—it continuously adapts, responding to new challenges and shifts in social circumstances, making it a dynamic force in maintaining societal harmony. Similarly, this tower, with its dynamic yet stable and disciplined form and monumental character, establishes a balance between the needs of MUP as an institution and the surrounding environment.

Project #2: Open Library

Start year: 30.03.2024

The Open Library in the city of Visoko, Bosnia and Herzegovina, represents an innovative initiative aimed at creating a shared space for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and books. This library will be accessible to all citizens, offering them the opportunity to explore a diverse literary collection and participate in cultural activities. The initiative was launched by MIZ Tabhanska Mosque in partnership with SETUP – Center for Social Initiatives. Bookshelves are being installed along a section of the existing fence of the Tabhanska Mosque. A total of eight segments of the wall contain four shelves each. Below four of these segments are flowerbeds, while the remaining segments feature benches for seating. The design motif on the shelves is inspired by the entrance door to the mosque courtyard.

Project #3: Kindergarten Prijeko, Visoko

Start year: –

The kindergarten is located in the Prijeko neighborhood in Visoko. It is being built on the site of the old kindergarten, which was almost completely destroyed during the last war. The building consists of several segments with single-pitched roofs, where each segment represents a distinct function within the facility, such as nurseries, kindergarten rooms, a multifunctional hall, a dining area, and more. The design aims to connect indoor spaces for children with outdoor terraces through large windows stretching almost the entire length of the rooms, creating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor environments.
