Bekir Ademi
Biography
Born in Vrapcishte-Gostivar in 1980 North Macedonia, although he intended to become a painter for what purpose he worked in various techniques and realized several exhibitions within the high school.
After finishing primary and secondary education in North Macedonia and Croatia he finally decided to study at the Faculty of Architecture at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje in 1999.
Simultaneously with his studies, he actively participated in construction in order to be aware of what in practice and in reality means technical drawing, so that in 2008 he established his own practice and won his first competition.
Persistent loyalty to the main values of the field of Architecture as a result of the “contemporary mindset” from the first day of professional work helped at developing and managing simple-complex building concepts and processes in the future.
“Milan Zlokovic” international award for best architecture work in the region in 2015, Nomination for the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award, in a shortlist of projects, Best chosen project for representing North Macedonia in the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice Biennale, Numerous national awards and competitions.
While in the early years of activity, BINA was concentrated mostly on housing design and small-scale projects, 2010 our practice started actively to participate in national competitions including the Skanderbeg Square in Skopje (2010), Theatre and Library in the city center of Tetovo (2011), The New Square and City Center of Gostivar (2016), Multifunctional Sports Hall in City Park of Skopje (2017) and other mixed-used competition projects.
House “2b” designed with our former partner architect Betim Zeqiri was crowned with the“Milan Zlokovic” international award for best architecture work in the region in 2015.
In 2019, Scanderbeg Square in Skopje was nominated for the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
In 2020, we were honored to represent North Macedonia in the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of Venice Biennale in response to the theme, “How Will We Live Together” selected by curator Hashim Sarkis.
