SHARE X Venice 2026: Innovation into Heritage

International architecture leaders gather in Venice to discuss innovation, conservation, adaptive reuse, and urban continuity.

SHARE X Venice 2026 is an international architecture conference organised by SHARE Architects, taking place on 9 June 2026 at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi in Venice, Italy. The event focuses on the theme “Innovation into Heritage” and brings together architects, urban thinkers, and practitioners from more than ten countries to explore how contemporary architecture can engage with historic buildings, cultural memory, and urban continuity.

Held under the patronage of the Fondazione Architetti Venezia and co-organised by the Venice Order of Architects / Ordine Architetti Venezia, in collaboration with SHARE Architects Society, the conference examines one of the defining questions of contemporary architecture: how can new interventions transform heritage contexts without erasing the memory of place?

Why Venice is the setting for SHARE X 2026

Venice offers one of the most powerful settings in the world for a discussion about innovation and heritage. The city embodies the constant tension between preservation and transformation, between cultural memory and contemporary life. By bringing SHARE X Venice 2026 to the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi, the conference places this debate within a meaningful architectural and cultural context.

The venue itself, part of Palazzo Grassi — one of Venice’s most important contemporary cultural complexes — reflects the central theme of the event: the insertion of contemporary vision into historic fabric.

How SHARE X Venice explores innovation in heritage architecture

The theme “Innovation into Heritage” calls for a deeper understanding of how architecture can operate within existing contexts. In an era shaped by digital technology, intelligent materials, climate responsibility, and new sustainability frameworks, heritage is no longer understood only as something to be preserved. It is also a field for careful transformation, research, and design intelligence.

SHARE X Venice 2026 invites professionals to examine the fragile boundary between conservation and innovation. The conference explores how bold architectural interventions can coexist with historic structures, how adaptive reuse can generate cultural value, and how contemporary design can strengthen rather than weaken the identity of a place.

Presented by Piero Zucchi, Co-Founder of GEZA Architettura. Longlisted for Adaptive Reuse of the Year at the Archello Awards 2024 and published in Domus, the CAPUA 1880 Headquarters on the Calabrian coast transforms a former Coca-Cola bottling plant by wrapping it in a perforated skin that enters into dialogue with the coastal landscape of the Strait of Messina. Basalt, corten steel, travertine, and alpine green marble form a façade that changes with the light.
