
Murat Tabanlıoğlu is the founder of +MURAT TABANLIOĞLU Studio, an international architecture, urbanism, and design practice shaped by more than 35 years of professional experience. Educated at the Technical University of Vienna, he leads a research-driven practice recognized for its culturally grounded approach to architecture across a diverse portfolio of cultural, hospitality, mixed-use, transportation, and urban-scale projects worldwide.
His work includes internationally acclaimed projects such as Atatürk Cultural Center, Tersane Istanbul, Istanbul Sapphire, Kanyon, Beyazıt State Library, Milas–Bodrum International Airport, and Senegal Stadium. Defined by a continuous dialogue between heritage and contemporary expression, his architecture creates enduring environments where culture, place, and collective memory converge.
Throughout his career, Tabanlıoğlu has received international recognition from leading architectural institutions and awards programs, including the RIBA International Awards, the Mies van der Rohe Award, and the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. He has also served on the juries of major international architecture platforms, including the Aga Khan Award for Architecture and the World Architecture Festival (WAF).
Beyond his built work, he has contributed extensively to architectural culture through exhibitions, installations, publications, and curatorial initiatives. He was the curator of Places of Memory at the Venice Architecture Biennale, and his work has been presented at prominent international cultural platforms in Milan, London, Dubai, Antwerp, and beyond.
