Maurizio has worked on some of ZHA’s largest scale residential projects across the world, including Italy, Australia, Mexico and Turkey. In Italy, he successfully led the design team for the residential cluster of buildings that form the new CityLife complex in Milan.
Mixed-Use Zugló City Centre Project In Budapest Maurizio Meossi will present the winning design proposal of a mixed-use development in Budapest. It includes residential, office, and retail functions that are connected by civic spaces and landscaped areas. The Zuglo City Centre creates a network with public squares, urban gardens, and links the development to the surrounding parks and avenues.
Zugló City Centre is shaped around several future-proof solutions aiming to reduce energy consumption and emissions while enhancing the quality of life for the local community.
With this goal, the design incorporates insulating green roofs as well as the collection, storage and reuse of 90,000 cubic meters of rainwater per year.
The orientation and composition of the buildings are defined to contribute to naturally regulate temperatures within the centre, decreasing summer peaks by up to 6 degrees compared to average temperatures in downtown Budapest.
ZHA stated that "to achieve these goals, the design includes nearly 35,000 square meters of communal green space, shade trees, and ponds to establish a new park that will be the third-largest in the district."
