Biography

Adriana, cofounder Miolk, is a promoter of thoroughness, simplicity, and light.

Since 2005 she has constantly been defining a process of designing houses that bring out the inner happiness and family communion.

There are 3 statements that define her team’s work:

  1. We care more about people than about the facades.
  2. The best interior designer is the sunlight.
  3. The technical challenges of a project are opportunities for unexpected beauty.

About the office:

Miolk is a young office of six young architects who ambition themselves to prove that good quality architecture is about simple and smart solutions. What one understands, one likes.

Miolk believes in slow architecture as there is a strong correlation between space and time through sunlight. The same room looks different in the light of June then in the light of December. The winter days bring long projections of direct sunlight when our state of mind needs to be lifted. The summer light is high, and rooms get a protective feeling from the shadow.

Miolk embraces the Genius Loci. A good project is the result of the client requests and of the opportunities the plot bring. Starting from the same requests, one will design 2 different houses on 2 different plots.

Miolk promotes a holistic design, both building and the surrounding land should be the subject of the design. Every square centimeter inside the property limits should be part of the project, not just the buildable perimeter.
