SHARE Architecture Awards 2025: 117 Finalists Announced from Across 20 Countries

The shortlist spotlight architecture from Central and South-Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia, emphasizing sustainability, adaptive reuse, and cultural relevance.

August 2025 — The SHARE Architecture Awards have unveiled the official shortlist for the 2025 edition, bringing forward 117 finalist projects from across 20 countries selected from a record 250 submissions. The awards, now in their second edition, continue to grow in scope and impact, with a 39% increase in participation compared to 2024.

The awards were established as a platform to recognize excellence in architecture and to give international visibility to design innovation emerging from the region’s evolving built environments.

Spotlight on Regional Identity and Contemporary Design Challenges

This year’s shortlist spans 20 countries, with major contributions from Kosovo (21 projects), Romania (20), Albania (11), Greece and Cyprus (9 each), Bulgaria (6), and Moldova (5). Projects were evaluated across more than 20 categories, including:

• Urban and landscape regeneration
• Cultural and educational buildings
• Public health and sports infrastructure
• Social and collective housing
• Mixed-use developments and heritage transformation

Finalist Projects to be Presented Live at the SHARE Architecture Festival 2025

All 117 finalist projects will be presented live during the SHARE Architecture Festival 2025, which takes place from 3–5 December at the Zumtobel Light Forum in Dornbirn, Austria — a venue internationally recognised for its alignment with sustainable innovation and lighting-focused architectural research.

This immersive, curated environment will host:

• Two days of live jury presentations
• Lectures by globally influential architects
• Architect-led dialogues and roundtables
• Exhibitions and interdisciplinary workshops

The event is made possible through the special support of Zumtobel, serving as both host and partner in fostering design discourse at the intersection of architecture, technology, and sustainability.

A Jury of Global Architectural Leaders

The jury is co-chaired by two prominent figures in the architectural world:

• Martha Thorne (Spain), Chair of the Jury — Former Executive Director of the Pritzker Architecture Prize
• Peter Murray (UK), Honorary Chair — Chairman of New London Architecture and The London Society

They are joined by a distinguished panel of practicing architects and thought leaders, including Ana Flor (Studio Gang, USA), Habibeh Madjdabadi (Iran), Yevgeniya Pozigun (Zaha Hadid Architects, UK), François Valentiny (Luxembourg), Manuelle Gautrand (France), Rainer Schmidt (Germany), Francisco Mangado (Spain), Fernando Menis (Spain), Ian Ritchie (UK), Fuensanta Nieto (Spain), and Oskar Norelius (White Arkitekter, Sweden).

A Platform Dedicated to Architectural Excellence in Emerging Regions

The SHARE Architecture Awards were created to elevate the visibility of architectural production across a part of Europe and Asia often underrepresented in global conversations. The awards are defined by a clear mission:

“To foster dialogue between tradition and innovation, contemporary needs and cultural heritage, and to celebrate architecture as a critical instrument for social, urban, and environmental transformation.”

Beyond recognition, the awards facilitate cross-border professional exchange, encourage inclusive and sustainable architectural practices, and connect emerging studios with global voices in design culture.
