Arch. Krzysztof INGARDEN,
Keynote Speaker, Ingarden & Ewy Architects, Poland

"Architecture is the most intriguing when it is open towards technology and achievements in art and science without neglecting local building tradition and when it creates a space that is both accepted by local communities and understood by an individual human being. We create architecture, which is responsive to locality and is also „human-friendly” – its materiality plays
the primary role in experiencing it by human senses. Architecture creates a kind of direct link between human and the environment. While searching for local roots, turns towards the experiments with traditional materials and try to recover the lost handicraft heritage, simultaneously reaching for the modern technologies with the respect for the environment, both natural and cultural."
The presentation will highlight six examples of Ingarden & Ewy projects – 4 realized and two competition entries (realized projects: Polish Pavilion Expo 2005 in Nagoya, Japan, Malopolska Garden of Arts in Kraków, ICE Krakow Congress Centre , Europe – Far East Gallery in Krakow and competition entries: Chopin’s Music Centre and Railway Museum in Warsaw).
